Beware of the Hornets Nest

This hornets nest is the largest I have encountered and now the question is how to get rid of it...
It is near the mailbox so it must vanish quickly as Maggie helps Granny retrieve the mail...
Enter...Ben and our kind friend Jim...now that's a pair!  As you can see they each have their weapon of choice, along with their smiles telling the photographer...not to worry, we have the situation under control.  They are armed with different sprays that will end the hornets stay at our locale!
It is just amazing to view this nest, it is a work of art and the artists are hornets...if they can accomplish that, just think what we can do!!!
Let's get to work on our masterpiece!!!

Pastry Treats

Pepperidge Puff Pastry to the rescue for a quick and easy dessert!
Thaw two sheets puff pastry and cut into squares...bake according to package directions.
When cooled cut each square in half and fill with sweetened whipped cream.  I used blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries in a bowl and sweetened slightly.  Place a generous spoon of fruit over the whipped cream and place the top of pastry on fruit.
Top with more whipped cream and a berry or two...or use fresh mint and an edible flower on top.

Enjoy~

Simple Italian Chicken

Okay, I am aware the picture is not great but the feeling I am experiencing is pretty awesome!

You see, I have never grilled in my life (and I am nearing retirement age), unless however you count S'Mores as grilling!!!

I simple placed four chicken breasts with rib meat in a zip-lock bag and poured one half bottle of Italian dressing over all and placed in the fridge for about 4 hours.

Now, I get a little nervous but persevere to the big grill on the deck...oh my the intimidation!  Turn the gas on, push the ignite button and pray it  doesn't blow up.

Well, that went well so I am feeling more relaxed...or am I?  The grill heats and I place the marinated chicken on the grill and close the lid.

About fifteen minutes later I turn the chicken and it looks pretty good but will it be moist after cooking an additional fifteen minutes?

You see, my husband does not like to grill chicken because he claims it always turns out dry...

Well, this chicken turned out moist and now I have been designated as the Chicken Queen...which brings responsibilities you know...I will cook all chicken from now on!

Enjoy~

Over The Top Asparagus!

With all the fresh asparagus at the Farmer's Market, you must try this recipe.
The presentation would be wonderful for a ladies luncheon or a dinner party...but it is also perfect for the family dinner!
2 dozen spears of fresh asparagus
1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
6 slices low sodium bacon, chopped
8 -12 ounces fresh strawberries, sliced
1/2 cup feta cheese, crumbled
4 tablespoons honey balsamic vinegar
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1  1/2 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1/4 teaspoons garlic powder
Preheat oven to 375 degrees
Thoroughly wash and dry asparagus and lay out on a foil lined baking sheet.  Sprinkle with the tablespoon of olive oil.  Roll the asparagus around a bit to make sure all surfaces are covered with oil.  Sprinkle with salt and pepper.  Bake for about 11-13 minutes.
While the asparagus is roasting, cook the chopped bacon over low-medium heat until crispy.  Drain on paper towels and set aside.
When the asparagus is finished, place on a glass platter and top with sliced strawberries, bacon, and crumbled feta.
Quickly whisk together the balsamic vinegar, 2 tbsp. olive oil, mustard and garlic powder and pour over the asparagus mixture.
Serve and enjoy~
